INTERREG IIIA

INTERREG IIIA is a Community initiative financed by the European Regional Development Fund which is aimed at supporting actions of cross-border cooperation in order to foster harmonious, balanced, and sustainable development of the Community space as a whole. The Spain-Portugal Program pursues the economic and social promotion of the cross-border nuclei through common strategies for sustainable development. It was in this context that ECCOMAP arose, promoted by the Conservation Biology Research Group of the University of Extremadura, and the Macro-Ecology and Conservation Unit of the University of Evora. The project's goal is the concerted management of the natural heritage on both sides of the border by means of an extensive study.
